You hit the nail on this one! I would like my child in the future to be able to go to China to learn chinese, but all these fears make me very hesitant. I do wish there is going to be change, but wishing and hoping does not seem to be enough. 中国风气很差,我都有点犹豫要不要回去。 ---sigh---sometimes, the world is just too imperfect .作者: shi121919 时间: 2010-6-13 00:38
That's very true. When I asked my advisor about choosing my majors, she told me to do what I really want to do, but not what will make the most money.
I do agree with her. Money is important, but it cannot be more important than happiness作者: home1989 时间: 2011-6-19 06:15
Overall, US is a great place to live in. I don't think I'll be able to live in Asia anymore after living in US all these years. 作者: 五千年5000 时间: 2011-6-22 20:43
U.S. has laws against discrimination of sex, race, age, religion, and disability. China does not.
U.S. has certain basic human rights that China does not.
U.S. has freedom of speech, China does not.
We can elect our city/state/federal government councils, and the majority of votes count. China does not have free election.
Don't get me wrong, U.S. is not perfect, I live in the states and I think there are many many things that the government need to change or improve, better health care system, better social security, etc..But because United States is the melting pot of so many different cultures, we are the spearhead for human/civil rights, and this includes gender equality. This makes for an environment that has the most tolerance toward foreigners, as well as equality toward woman.作者: yunsujin 时间: 2013-1-29 22:06
