最新研究发现，来自中国大陆的移民融入美国社会的程度依然偏低，在10个主要来美移民国家中，其融入美国的综合指数仅排名第七，在全球更处于下游。来自香港和台湾地区的华人融入美国的程度相对较高。

　　杜克大学教授维克多的最新研究报告根据移民的英语能力、经济状况、教育成就、婚姻状况、入籍比率等指标，设定融入指数，并根据2007年的人口调查数据，评出全世界各国和地区移民的融入指数。

　　10个来美移民最多的国家中，加拿大、菲律宾、越南、韩国、古巴移民融入美国的综合指数最高，排第六到第十的分别是多米尼加、中国大陆、萨尔瓦多、印度和墨西哥。中国的综合融入指数为22。

　　在文化融入指数方面，中国大陆移民只有41，仅略高于印度，排倒数第二。加拿大人的文化融入指数为100。文化指数包括了婚姻状况、每户孩子数量、英语能力等指标。

　　在经济融入指数方面，中国大陆移民得89，在10国中排第七，仅高于3个拉丁裔国家，说明中国大陆移民在教育程度、收入、职业、雇工状况等因素的综合考量中，总体上只处于中等水平。

　　在公民融入指数方面，中国大陆移民得47，排第六位。该指数根据入籍和参军状况测定，越南人入籍最积极，其次是菲律宾和韩国人。

　　从全世界看，欧美发达国家的综合融入指数较高，主要是文化和经济融入指数基本都达到满分，但公民指数较低，因为发达国家入籍美国的人数较少。香港和台湾来美移民的综合融入指数相对较高，分别为58和42，在全球排中上游。

　　纽约曼哈顿研究所发布的这份报告指出，美国经济衰退不仅令非法移民流入速度放慢，也削弱了合法移民融入美国社会的愿望，外国移民融入美国社会的趋势放缓甚至停滞。

混口饭容易，但是融入社会是很难的。

Actually I'm even surprised the numbers are even this high. The people who have come from mainland, or so I see from the people around me, don't quite blend in at all. Most of them,(i wanna say about a good 80%) just choose not to fit in at all. They choose to just stick with the same people as themselves. That's probably why even when some of them have been in America for so many years, they still can't speak english. And I'm not taking about the older folks.

深有体会，绝对不仅仅是语言的问题，文化思维方面的问题占很大部分。对了，这篇文章怎么没有提到日本，好像日本人很少移民美国吗？

our culture, our language, our history... everything is so different. I can see why is hard to blend in.

That is quite normal. It takes generations. Question is why are we so concern about blending in? America is a melting pot. No culture is better than another. I think keeping heritage is also very important, especially for the second generations.
