杜克斯表示并不一定要将这两座公园“改名”。比如说华盛顿公园可以改为纪念芝加哥前市长哈罗德·华盛顿(Harold Washington),而杰克逊公园可以改为纪念民权领袖杰西·杰克逊(Jesse Jackson)或是歌手迈克尔·杰克逊(Michael Jackson)。名字可以保留,但总之不能再和“那两个奴隶主”有瓜葛。值得注意的是,他举例的三人都是黑人。
